Although speaking up and speaking out is never easy, it is very empowering. We are given a voice at birth and oftentimes it seems so many people spend a lifetime talking about things that don't matter. We use it to flatter others, laugh at jokes we don't think are funny, yell at our kids, be agreeable (even when we may not want to be) and oftentimes we aren't taught to really speak our mind and/or state the truth in any kind of way to help people. So often it seems people's intentions are really to degrade or tear down, not lift up and/or empower others.
Being as open and honest as I can about life and helping others get through tough times is what life has become to me. My life has shifted and been made new by Jesus Christ and now I seek to give back to others in ways God gave back to me.
Try to release your burdens and fears to Christ today and really seek Him for healing or help in those nagging areas that never seem to go away. No matter what your "thing" is, we all have one. Maybe it's time to really give that "thing" to God and not go back to it. No matter what you've lost, who's hurt you or what mistakes you made, God is absolutely there to help you and to fill that void. The key to finding Christ is to seek Him with all you've got. Sometimes the 'all you've got' feels like nothing, because our cup is running on empty, but don't forget God is the God of miracles and many blessings. I think people's biggest downfall in life related to God is that so many people think church is God or pastors and doctors know everything. It's time we get to finding God on our own and keep searching after Him until we know Him for ourselves. He won't steer you wrong and He will steer you to get help. It isn't about not going to church or not going to the doctor. The problem is giving any one person the power and control over every thought and decision in your life and you not wanting to know for yourself. Don't stop when you get that new car or new house or an answered prayer comes, but keep searching after His heart and fall in love with Him over and over. There is always more of God and He is a very gracious God to give us all He's got.
Thanks Kathy Talkington of Middly Way House for being so awesome! This is from back in Oct 2013, but I wanted to give it some light this year. It is very freeing to be able to tell your story among other believers, as well as around those that have never been through it. We as women have a lot to be proud of despite our story or our pain.
